GENERAL SAFETY RULES

  • Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE’s) on the plant floor.
  • Only use cell-phones or personal devices during specified breaks and only in designated areas.
  • Do not wear or use any earphones/ music devices while you are working.
  • Wash your hands regularly, especially before and after eating.
  • Always check your surroundings while walking around the plant.
  • Make sure to make eye contact with drivers before crossing stations.
  • Report any/all accidents or injuries to your team leaders.
  • Report any unsafe practices/behavior to your team leaders.
  • Keep your work station clean at all times.
  • Do not operate equipment that you are not trained/authorized to use.
  • Always use safe lifting techniques/methods to avoid injury.
  • Always follow health and safety protocol.       

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

  • The law requires all employees to wear PPE when needed.
  • Therefore, please ensure you are wearing PPE wherever indicated.
  • When entering manufacturing plant premises, PPE such as safety shoes, gloves, bump or hard hats, eye protection and ear protection must be worn. 
  • When you purchase safety shoes on your own, you will be reimbursed up to $120 every 12 months. 
  • PPE must not be shared between employees unless properly cleaned and sanitized.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL

To maintain Matcor’s cleanliness and environmental standards, it is crucial that we dispose of our garbage in the proper disposal bins.

FIRST AID ROOM

  • First aid should only be administered in the first aid room to avoid any risk of contamination and subsequent infections. Also, only trained first aiders can administer first aid.

  • Remember to report any/ all injuries/incidents to leadership as soon as possible.

OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT

Please do not operate equipment you are not trained or authorized to do so, as it is a major safety hazard for you as well as others around you.

EYE WASH STATIONS

If you feel like something went into your eyes, please refrain from touching them or washing them anywhere except the eye wash fountain stations.

If you feel like you need assistance walking to an eye wash station, please reach out to your nearest coworker. 

Eye wash stations can be found in several locations throughout the plant, including beside the Assembly and Press Shop production offices.

FIRE EXITS

Fire exits are located in several areas around premises for prompt exit in case of an emergency.

Please familiarize yourself with the exit nearest to you on your first day of work.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURE

Matcor has an emergency fire plan to be carried out in the event of this emergency. 

Annual fire drills will be conducted and you will be provided with information concerning the emergency plan for your work area.

The emergency routes are posted throughout the plant.

Emergency Building Evacuation


1. Possible emergency event detected.
2. Alarm pulled or problem identified.
3. Evacuation Alarm is sounded.
4. All lift trucks should be stopped immediately.
5. Turn off all fans.
6. All associates exit building by nearest and safest exit.
7. Once outside, report to the mustering area (white M1 sign), & your Leader for head count.
8. Wait at the Mustering Area until you receive the ‘All Clear’ or other instructions.

REPORTING INCIDENTS

  1. REPORTING. It is your responsibility to report any incident, accident, injury, skin irritation or rash, no matter how minor that happens during work to both your Supervisor/ Lead Hand and Human Resources immediately following
  2. FIRST AID ASSISTANCE: Qualified first aid attendants are available to treat all injuries appropriately and to document the necessary details. Never attempt to treat yourself.
  3. IMMEDIATE ACTION: It is important that you inform us immediately when you plan to see, or have seen your doctor regarding a health problem you feel may be related to work.
  4. SAFER TOGETHER: If we all work on eliminating the minor hazards, then we will reduce or eliminate risk of serious injury.
